Tonaquint Family Night

• “The focus of Tonaquint Family Night is to provide families with an engaging and educational experience centered around nature and outdoor activities. Come one, come all to connect with nature, be educated on local wildlife and conservation, learn about outdoor recreation opportunities right in our backyard, and feel inspired by the local organizations in our area.”

  • Visit each booth to gather information and complete a variety of different activities.

  • Bring comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for outdoor activities.

  • Restrooms and parking facilities are conveniently located nearby.

BANFF Film Festival 2024

• September 20th

• “The Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour is the premier festival on mountain culture and outdoor sports, including rock climbing, mountain biking, ski/snowboarding, mountaineering, and many others. The best films from the festival are taken on a World Tour each year and Get Outside will host the tour on September 20, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. at the Electric Theater in historic downtown St. George, UT.

  They will also have giveaways and plenty of swag from local sponsors Contact Climbing Gym, The Desert Rat, The Bike Fix and Adventure Plus.

Star Gazing at Zion

• September 20th

• 8:30-10:30PM

• Zion National Park

• “The Southwest Astronomy Festival Returns September 20– 22.
  The National Park Service and partners will be hosting several public programs throughout the weekend.

  Join Zion National Park for Space: Close Up and Personal.

  The featured guest speaker is a meteor astronomer who tracks down the rocks that travel the space between the planets and end up hitting Earth. Dr. Peter Jenniskens is a senior research scientist with the SETI Institute and NASA Ames Research Center in California. He has traveled the globe to guide the recovery of meteorites from small asteroids that were observed in space prior to impacting the Earth’s atmosphere. He also has deployed a network of photographic cameras to investigate the origin of our meteorites in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

  When: 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. – Star Gazing at Zion National Park
  Where: Watchman Campground Amphitheater

  Talk followed by stargazing with expert guidance on how to identify active meteor showers.”

Solar Viewing at Red Hills Garden

• “Safely view, enjoy, and learn about our closest star, the sun! Join park rangers from Grand Canyon-Parashant, St. George Astronomy Group, and Cedar Breaks staff for solar viewing and activities for kids.”

Fisher Family Farm Fall Festival

• “Whether you choose to participate in the pumpkin patch, corn maze, petting zoo, go on the swings, go down the slides, or launch pumpkins out of a cannon, they have lots of options for everyone in the family to enjoy! Fall Festival will be open every day except Sunday from 12 p.m. – 8 p.m.”

Yvonne Montoya: Stories from Home

• September 21st

• Center for the Arts at Kayenta, The Lorraine Boccardo Theater

• ““Stories From Home is a series of dances embodying the oral traditions of Nuevomexicano, Chicano, and Mexican American communities in the American Southwest. Choreographer Yvonne Montoya, a 23rd-generation Nuevomexicana, and an all-Mexican American cast of dancers draw upon personal histories and ancestral knowledge, including stories from Montoya’s great-grandmother, grandmother, great-aunts, and father. With palpable theatricality, moving spoken word, a movement aesthetic informed by vibrant ancestral and contemporary sources, and universal themes of love, family, and home, Stories from Home brings vastly underrepresented Southwest Latino American experiences and histories to the stage.”

• “Fisher Family Farms welcomes you out for a night of fun and screams! Bring your friends, significant other, and classmates, and be ready to enjoy a night. All ages are welcome to participate, but they recommend 12 years and older. Once you enter, you will be subject to fog, laser lights, strobe lights, realistic props, gore, actors who are trained to scare you, loud noises, machines, and more. By entering the Haunted House, you agree to this knowledge. Hours for the Haunted House: Friday, Saturday: dusk- up to 2 hrs after dark.”
