Happy New Year!
Goodbye 2020, Welcome 2021!
I am glad 2020 is over but need to acknowledge that we learned a lot this past year and we bought the Woolley-Foster home which is now the Mulberry Inn. I truly love this Inn and its long history. I give tours for my guests and would love to tell you about the house and the history of its contents. We have a lot of plans for the Inn this year. Since we bought the property we have made many improvements, but the fun ones are ahead. We have a new roof, rebuilt and sealed chimneys (4 of them), new exterior paint with the expected Victorian minimum of 3 colors, and new cement sidewalks. Our next focus outside is the landscaping. I want the experience to be not only for the eyes but for your other senses: namely scent. St. George is this wonderful Cinderella zone where we can grow almost every plant species or at least a variety of it. I can't wait to get my hand dirty!
Some events for January while we wait for planting time: On the Fourth was the 125th Anniversary of Utah becoming a state. (The Mulberry is 23 years older than the state of Utah! Can you believe it?) The Tuacahn Saturday Market is still available for outdoor shopping of artwork, crafts, food and entertainment from 9am to 1pm. The West Village Farmers Market is every first Wednesday of the month which supports local farmers, bakers and artisans from 4 to 7pm. The St. George Half Marathon is still scheduled for Jan 16th. It is on paved trails that I love to bike on along the Virgin River. I have a couple bikes to borrow if you want to go take a ride. We even have a couple bike races coming up: Festival del Sol and Bikestock. I will have to sit out the Festival del Sol because I have beach cruisers, not mountain bikes. But the Bikestock event is for the whole family and worth checking out. Last but not least, give me a call if you want to give a gift certificate to the Inn to a loved one. This has been a favorite gift this Holiday season. I look forward to the stays ahead. Until next month, Happy New Year! I hope to see you soon at The Mulberry Inn.
