Autumn Breezes in the Air
September and October
Autumn is coming quickly and there is no better time to stay at The Mulberry. Our huge trees are gorgeous this time of year. The weather mellows and feels like you are at your Grandma’s lazing on the porches & balconies. The hiking this time of year is excellent and St. George starts having more festivals and fairs.
We start with a Hot Air Balloon and Music Festival over at Staheli Farm on September 24th and 25th. The Balloons launch at 7:30am and then wander around to enjoy the Vendor Market, Food Trucks, Live Music, Corn Maze, Pumpkin Patch and Farmland. After enjoying the fun on the farm, head over to downtown St. George for the excellent restaurants within walking distance of the Inn. Then head out Saturday night, the 25th, to the Lantern Festival over at Sand Hollow. It is quite beautiful to watch the lights even if you don’t launch a lantern yourself. It is quite the sight. You can expect booths, live music and treats there also.
In October The Kayenta Arts Foundation presents a fabulous three-day event that runs Friday, October 8th through Sunday the 10th. Each year, thousands of art lovers make their way to Kayenta in Ivins Utah to enjoy not just art but stunning autumn desert vistas, culinary delights from festival vendors, a beer and wine garden with live music. Ivins is just a short drive from downtown St. George and a great stop for our Art lovers. Next we have the RedStone
Highland Games & Festival on October 15th &16th. This is just a walk up the street from us and is a fun afternoon of watching the athletes test their strength, and fairgoers testing the Scottish wares and food. The Salt Lake Scots bagpipe band is wonderful in procession!
If you’d like to watch or participate in the Huntsman World Senior Games, they are from Oct 4th through the 16th. They have everything from pickleball to anything you can imagine as part of the games. They hold many of the events just a short drive away.
I’ve decided there are just too many things to name in this short blog. Those are a few of the highlights. We have our usual Farmers markets which feature local art too. Art seems to be a part of our culture here in St. George. If you have any questions or want suggestions of what to do while here, feel free to give me a call. I love to chat and brag about our area. There is no place like Southern Utah! I love it!
